Gears of War: Reloaded Ending & Cliffhanger Explained

Beginning with Marcus Fenix being broken out of prison, Gears of War: Reloaded centers around a military action known as the Lightmass Offensive. For most of the game, you’re tasked with retrieving and deploying a device known as the Resonator, which is intended to map the Locust Horde’s subterranean tunnels – data that can be used to pinpoint the ideal location for detonating the supposedly war-ending Lightmass Bomb. The final cutscene makes the successful detonation seem rather inconsequential, leaving Reloaded on a confusing cliffhanger for first-time players.
