But at this year’s AnimeNYC convention, history was made when the series lost its grip on the top spot. The newly introduced Anime & Manga International Awards (AMI) crowned One Piece as the “Most IcoNYC Anime,” leaving Dragon Ball Z to settle as runner-up.
