The CW’s The Vampire Diaries was undoubtedly a beloved hit, but one of the show’s most iconic characters was almost played by a completely different actor. The Vampire Diaries depicted a young woman who falls for an immortal being, and ran for eight seasons between 2009 and 2017. The series is based on the young adult novel series of the same name by L. J. Smith.
